The Chicago Cubs have made the playoffs! While it isn't often that Cubs fans get much to cheer about, recent seasons have ended comparatively well for this storied franchise (which hasn't won a world series since 1908).
The Cubs have made the playoffs for the first time in four years, and we're hoping for something special this time around. As celebrations are sure to erupt all over Wrigleyville with each Cubs win, one has to wonder if any major league sports team (baseball or other) has such a fun time during the postseason. Four years ago, I can remember seeing 40,000 people in the streets, parties in every apartment, and people hanging out of windows -
and that wasn't even the World Series.
It's almost as if we expect our beloved Cubs to lose... yet we continue to love them and hope that "
next year will be our year." In the midst of all the failures that the Cubs have had, our fans never seem to be phased.
Is this year the Cub's year to win the World Series? Maybe. But October baseball in Chicago is second-to-none.
