Chicago's Olympic Dreams

I saw a report on the news last night saying that the city of Chicago was considering buying the land currently owned by Michael Reese Hospital to use as the (possible) Olympic campus for 2016... assuming of course Chicago gets to host the 2016 games. While I don't know all of the facts, I think it sounds like a great idea! Chicago already has one of the best waterfronts of any major US city, and having the Olympic campus on the waterfront would only add to its impact. Since I'm a north-sider, I didn't even know that the hospital was scheduled to close in the not-too-distant future. That being said, I'm glad that land won't sit around unused. Even if Chicago doesn't get to host the Olympic games in 2016, at least that land will benefit the city when sold for later development. Overall, I have to say I'm impressed with the idea - and I look forward to hearing more details.
