Chicago Beaches Are Open

I just read a news report saying that the Chicago public beaches are now open.

I'm going to sound clueless for a moment... but I never realized the beaches ever "closed". When I was in college at Loyola, we used to go to the beaches in Rogers Park at all hours and all days of the year. The CPD never told us to leave. In fact, we used to joke that they were protecting us from the bums.

I suppose I just never thought about how the beaches are technically parks, and that (obviously) the lifeguards aren't working year-round. So apparently I didn't learn that in college. Way-to-go Loyola!
